What you need to know about FGM

Female Genital Mutilation or FGM is a practice that involves changing, altering or removing part of a girl or a woman’s natural external female genitalia. This practice is not done for medical or health reasons; this means that natural and healthy parts of the body are removed for a variety of non-medical reasons.

The external female genitalia are also known as the ‘private parts’ and they are part of the body that is linked to going to the bathroom and having babies.
